As a beauty editor at Byrdie.com, Maya writes beauty, health, and wellness content for millennial women. With past editorial experience at major women's publications like O, The Oprah's Magazine, ESSENCE, InStyle, and Cosmopolitan.com, Maya has made it her mission to inform, inspire, and shift the narrative of mainstream media when it comes to diversity in the beauty industry. She found her love for journalism as a young girl growing up in Portland, Oregon collecting magazines. She dreamed of seeing women who looked like her in articles and on covers but never found the representation she yearned for in the media. So, she decided to change that.

​Courtney Danielle was born, raised and currently resides in New York City. In 2012 she began her natural hair journey which ultimately led to the inception of Curls and Couture. She created the Curls and Couture platform with the goal to inspire young girls and women to embrace, love and learn their curls. While it all began with natural hair Courtney has developed her platform into space where she could also share her passions for everything beauty, style, travel, wellness, her faith and so much more.

​Jamal Jordan is a multimedia documentarian who makes a living talking shit in newsrooms. He’s currently a Digital Storytelling editor for The New York Times. Before that, he made short documentaries for NBC News, longer documentaries with VRT News in Belgium, and a TV show with VICE News. You’ll probably find him near the snacks.

​George Myrie, was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. During his upbringing, there were many obstacles he had to overcome to avoid being a product of his environment. Through it all and with the support and guidance from his close family, friends and mentors, he was able to develop a sense of “stuyle”, confidence, book and street smarts. George has also banned together a group of men called the “Bearded Dapper Gents” where they preform all things creative for various brands (Chase, Sean John and Brooks Brothers) just to name a few.

DAVE BRIDGEFORTH

Activist, businessman, motivational speaker, writer-poet, publisher & editor in chief of the award winning critically acclaimed DBQ Magazine, queer spiritual thought leader —David Bridgeforth is a 31 year old black gay rockstar of a force. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana to a mother who survived and eventually conquered AIDS, Bridgeforth makes a point to correlate HIV/AIDS prevention messaging in all the work he creates. He is the youngest member of the board of directors of Harlem Pride and a consultant to several other pride organizations nationally. He is the creator of the annual #LOUD100 list featuring the countries most Influential LGBTQ peopled color. Over the past 15 years Bridgeforth’s body of work include collaborations and/or interviews with Les Brown, Maya Angelou, Mo’Nique, Janet Mock, and Jussie Smollett to name a few.
